conceived by Leda Hoffmann and Christian Ricci
works byO'Neill, Inge, Shepard, Wilson, Wilder, Newman, McCauley, Kaufman and Hart

Director
A Grinnell Independent Theatre Production, Grinnell College

Picture

An American Theatre Project began with the idea of exploring small town life through American playwrights.  Christian and I choose scenes from American plays that explored issues in rural areas.  The process resulted in an outdoor performance on the Grinnell College campus (in the small town of Grinnell, Iowa) by an ensemble cast.

The performance included scenes from the following plays:

The Dark at the Top of the Stairs            Curse of the Starving Class
by William Inge                                      by Sam Shepard

Beyond the Horizon                                The American Way
by Eugene O'Neill                                   by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart

Quilters                                                 Conflict
by Molly Newman                                   by Clarice McCauley

Our Town                                              Piano Lesson
by Thornton Wilder                                by August Wilson

True West
by Sam Shepard
